: I'm interested in what sort of contraception other ladies use while taking epilepsy medication. I know that some epilepsy medication reduces the effect of some contraceptive pills. I'm taking Lamictal and Tegretol and I have just started taking Diane-35 pills to clear my acne. Diane-35 is also a contraceptive pill. I'm not sexually active so I don't intend to use the Diane-35 as a contraceptive just yet but I was just wondering for the future. Any advice?

Anything I say should not substitute for advice from your doctor. It is true that your anti-convulsants can make any oral contraceptive pill not work. I would consider always using a second form of birth control. There are better treatments for acne besides the pill.
