I had complex partial seizures for 10 years before I had brain surgery to correct it. I took tegretol for 20 years and in Nov. 1999, I got to come off of it for the first time. I too was planning on having children and my neurologist told me that tegretol was the safest anticonvulsant to take while pregnant. I am actively trying, free of any medication, but was willing to take tegretol while trying to conceive. I've also had other health professionals tell me that tegretol is safest. I don't know anything about the anticonvulsants you are taking so I don't know how safe they are. I wish you the best of luck in life and in conceiving.
