: I had complex partial seizures for 10 years before I had brain surgery to correct it. I took tegretol for 20 years and in Nov. 1999, I got to come off of it for the first time. I too was planning on having children and my neurologist told me that tegretol was the safest anticonvulsant to take while pregnant. I am actively trying, free of any medication, but was willing to take tegretol while trying to conceive. I've also had other health professionals tell me that tegretol is safest. I don't know anything about the anticonvulsants you are taking so I don't know how safe they are. I wish you the best of luck in life and in conceiving.
Hi! I would like to respond to the message left by Lindsey: I have been on the Tegretol XR and am being switched to Lamictal and am concerned about problems with conceiving...
You say you had surgery to correct CP seizures.
How did they do that? Mine are caused by scar tissue on my brain from an auto accident, and I've been told that the area in which they are would possibly cause more problems to remove. Aren't the CP's usually located in the same part od the brain? Please e-mail me.
