: I was wondering if a person knows he is having a seizure when it is happening or after it is over. How do they feel, during and after. I have a young child that can't tell me what is going on when he has seizures and I would like to know more about what he is going thru. Thank you!!!

Hi Jamie,
I wanted to give you another response that is different than all the others. I have what my doctor
calls simple partial seizures. They are temporal lobe seizures. When I have a seizure
I know when it is coming and I am conscious the whole time. I can talk to you and if you were
present when I was having one I would tell you I was having a seizure. When I first
started Having them I didn't feel like there was any way to describe them either, but this is
what I eventually came up with: I feel like I'm dreaming. I get an intense feeling of deja-vu.
I feel like I can remember what is going to happen. I feel like people are out to get me.
There is often some story that goes along with specific things that I see and I often want to
and sometimes do walk out on people or leave wherever I am. They last under a minute, but
I find them frightening. hope that is helpful. Kate
