My 19 year old son recently had a grand mal seizure.
He now thinks he may have had another one a couple of
years ago. His CAT scan and EEG were normal. The
neurologist didn't seem to be overly concerned and
was not going to put him on medication. However, after
I explained that my son would continue to drive, he
prescribed Dilantin. What other tests can and/or
should be done to determine the cause? Is putting him on
medication the right thing to do? Are there long term
side effects? My son seems to think that the seizure
may have been triggered by his having gotten really
angry and upset beforehand. Is that possible? Any
advise would be appreciated.
