Hey guys, i just couldn't resist. Great debate going! Since you're throwing your education degrees around (ahem), I just wanted to comment on Super's statement about studies conducted concerning CHO & fat intake following exercise. I do have a Ph.D in exercise physiology and have done some research (ok, there it is), and Super, I am not aware of these studies you talk about. There is one that gets cited constantly (Zawadski et al out of UTexas) that used protein supplements with CHO following intense endurance exercise (glycogen depleting bout). They showed an increase in glycogen repletion when protein was used. HOWEVER, there is a very recent study that contradicted the previous study. The reason being was that the previous study added calories with the protein supplement while the latter study controlled for calorie intake. That's a skeleton-version of this topic. Anyway, this isn't the best forum for these kinds of discussions, best to attend an ACSM meeting and get the scoop. Cheers fellas and keep up the good work!
