There are a some studies that show that if you combine aerobic and strength training, you may compromise strength gains from the resistance training. BUT, these studies were done with athletes who normally train very hard. If you are like most people, whatever aerobic workout you get should not negate the effects of strength training. Aerobic exercise (whether done on the stat. cycle or the treadmill) can serve you by warming up your muscles before liftin and by improving your cardiovascular. If your main concern is muscle mass and strength gains, keep aerobic exercise to no more than 20-30 minutes a day.
