NOt to be nitpicking to your reply but your muscles don't get warmed up by stretching they get warmed up by "warming up", you should warm up, exercise, cool down, then stretch.
As you to the speed walking question, I would suggest not only strengthening your calf musculature but also your quadriceps, and keep practicing, be sure to do the weight training every second day to give your muscles are break.
