Cardio is anything that gets your heart rate up. Target heart range is about 170ish for the average weighing man/aged man.
It takes about 5-6 weeks to notice any REAL difference if you do cardio like you should. That means about 4-5 days a week atLEAST and bout 45 min's a turn.
diet plays a major role in it as well. LOW CARBS, HIGH PROTEIN! Can't stress that enough.
Too keep some weight/muscle, do cardio and lift weights as well. Weights will keep you looking firm even IF you lose some weight. So that way you will gain muscle and give the appearance of weighing more. And if you really are concerned about it, consume 2grams of protein per pound of body weight, that should keep your weight close to where it is.
