Has anybody else out there had experience with laser treatment for this condition (which includes Fuch's, map-dot-fingerprint and other types)? Most info on the net states the only treatment is a corneal transplant. I had a PTK - not to be confused with PRK -about a year ago, and it's worked well. Much less traumatic than the transplant, less expensive, shorter recovery time. BUT Medicare refuses to pay for part of the surgery. Surgeon's fee was reimbursed, but not expenses of the surgery center. That makes it hard for older patients to get the treatment. I was even told Medicare wouldn't allow me to pay for it out of pocket. As a result, I haven't been able to get the second eye done. Any solutions out there?
