: I woke up this morning with a very sore, red eye and have no idea what could have caused it. There is alot of matter, but no itching, so i don't think it's allergy related. I am wondering if this could be Pinkeye? What are its' symptoms and how are they treated? Is there any over-the-counter medicine for it?

The symptoms for pink eye include redness, irritation, constant itching, your eye will constantly water and it may sting to keep it open, when you go to sleep the next morning your eye will be crusted shut, or
may be hard to open. The inside of your eyelid witl be bright red instead of a fleshy pink color, and the white part of your eye will also be red and irritated.
You have to go to the doctor for prescription eye drops. Do not rub your eyes or touch it. It is very contagious, you and your doctor should know right away that you have it just by looking.
