I've been having Opthalmic Migraines for at least 4 years. They usually appear as 'sparkles' in both eyes that slow expand to cover a crescent shaped arc over about half of my field of vision. I usually have some vertigo associated with them, with one case where I actually experienced syncope (fainting). Fortunately, I was not driving at the time! My physician has since recommended that whenever I get these sparkles I should lie down immediatly whereever I am until they go away.
