My daughter, at 17 had Norplant inserted. Within 3 months she began having migrane headaches, by 6 months she suffered a stroke which left her blind in her left eye and with loss of memory and movemnet of her left hand. I asked the physicians treating her at the time if the Norplant should be removed. Their answer was NO, Norplant does not cause stroke. Within 1 year of the first stroke, she had another. She now has loss all vision in her left eye, and anything she had regain over the year was lost again. Her new physicians had the Norplant removed immediately. Please share this information with anyone that you know that has Norplant. I feel as consumers, (and patients) we were not informed of all the problems with NOrplant. The best way for me to get this word out, is to tell our story. Please share that Norplant is NOT the answer, it does have TERRIBLE side effects, and in my Opinion, NO ONE should use it. : I had Norplant for 4 years before having it removed and during that time my vision became increasingly worse. I was told by several optometrist that my vision was abnormally decreasing and that it caused some concern. My sister-in-law had Norplant, also, and loss vision in both eyes. Her doctor explained to her that it was believed that Norplant could cause vision loss. Has anyone heard of this or experienced this? My vision has doubled in its severity every year. I had my eyes checked last May and by August my vision had already become blurry again. If anyone has any ideas of what could have caused this, please advise.
