I have for sometime had elevated blood pressure falling between 160/90 and 195/125. I have recently been feeling very unwell and today visited my General Practitioner who is also a competent Eye Surgeon. I mentioned to him (at the end of my visit) that I was having a problem with my right eye. I described that four weeks ago I had a large black area (I thought it was a piece of black fluff or fly caught up in my hair over my eye area. It drove me made for a couple of days then dimished and became a number of smaller dark moving patches (which he called floaters). I also felt as thought a film was over the eye and began having frequent neon type light flashes in the outer corner of my eye. My Doctor examined obviously not happy with what he saw and has arranged for me to have more extensive exam three days from now. He mentioned possible detaching retina and burst blood vessels. I have searched the web and cannot find where elevated blood pressure can be a cause for a detaching retina. Has anyone heard of this?
