Many times, thyroid is within the so-called normal lab ranges, but one still is imbalanced.
There IS no scientific test that reveals what level of thryoid any particular person actually needs.

There is another test, the TRH that will reveal a "borderline" case, and many times these cases respond well to treatrment, but most doctors just look at a lab range and if one's test shows within it, they don't look further.
One has to understand this to get proper DX and treatment.
Go to about.com, search for thyroid, it has many archived articles about this.
