: : Hi, Just a quick question for anyone out there. Do any of you ever experience a flare just before you get your period?

: Hi Ali,
: I have experienced extreme cramps during and just prior to my cycle my whole life except when I was taking the pill for many years. I've been off of them for about 1.5 years now, so yes, now see more cramps down my legs and in back now too. What I have read about nsaids (not sure if this is correct spelling) like ibuprofen or some things similar, like even regular menstrul relief such as Pamprin (now aspirin free too) is that you must take them before the pain and get your body on them early, as to prevent it from starting, or else it says not to expect much relief from those kinds of medicines right away. Don't drink any caffeine prior to your period either if you can help it and during, also very little sugar.... but maybe small amount of chocolate if you are a sugar lover, cause at least chocolate has some chemicals that help your moods. This has been my experiences. And also to take calcium at half the ratio of magnesium might help cramping muscles. Keep in mind that medications are more quickly and better absorbed if taken with a food product, even say, milk or toast and butter, and if you wash them down with a hot liquid, like herbal tea, even quicker results. The 'ol trusty heating pad trick can do wonders on a cramping tummy if all else fails. Hope you feel better next period. :)

: Take it easy,
: Beverly............................Hi Aly...Good advice from Beverly. I do alot of the same around that time. I get a very bad flare of the Fibro.....Mood is elevated..Big time..I will cry about anything!...which helps nothing but it does make me feel better for some reason..Ha! Anyway Sugar is not a good thing to have and Chocolate(Which contains caffien) gives me Migrains at that time..Green tea is great!...She is soooooooo right about the heating pad! Stretching is important along with some exercise.....to release that seritonin we all need and love. Mark it on the calendar and don't let it creep up on you...Well my Husband is the one who marked it on the calender so he could be prepared..to run and hide...Ha!..Hope you feel much better this one go round....take good care of you!......Cyn*
