Corene- Hopefully you'll get this message. I've been sober for 10 years and suffering with FM for past 4 years but only diagnosed a few months ago. My suggestion is to stick close to your "program" and talk frankly with your doctors, don't skip medications if you need them but make absolutely SURE that the medications are non-addictive AND non-narcotic. Make sure your doc is familiar with addiction. Many sober people take medications, we tend to be chemically out of balance to start with. If you are suffering you may be setting yourself up for relapse. You can try some alternative therapies but also keep an open mind. If you have any type of "sponser", make sure they understand the use of medications as appropriate for sober people, don't let yourself be talked into the NO MEDICATIONS EVER mentality, I've seen a lot of people suffer needlessly. I wish I could get in touch with you via email but I don't know how. Take care!
