: : : : : I injured my foot in a fall on July 1st. One week later, and after two separate sets of x-rays, I was referred to an orthopedic specialist. Exactly two weeks from the date of the injury I underwent surgery and now have six pins in my left foot. It has been two weeks since my surgery, and in four more weeks they hope to remove the pins. I sometimes suffer from moderate pain, usually following activity ( eventhough I am on crutches), but for the most part the pain has been minimal and easily managed with little medication ( average one 7.5/500 Lortab per day). The greatest discomfort is when swelling occurs and the pins rub against the cast. It is necessary to keep my foot elevated at all times. I have been told that my orthopedic is the best in our area. My family physician and the radioligst who noted the potential injury were also key. I have been extremely pleased with the care I have received, as well as my recovery progress. I also credit myself in having been persistent in reporting my pain and discomfort. I am optimistic of a full recovery.
