: : I have had a number of neuromas and cortizone injections (did not work for me) and surgeries (which haven't completely worked either. I am currently taking Neurontin 300MG, and the pain has subsided but not ceased. I would like to know how your injections go, since I have had two surgeries on my left foot already, on the top and then on the bottom of my foot. I really have been in pain for a while and would appreciate any help you could offer. Please email me at Lydiastoy@aol.com.
I just Got the first of a series of injections yesterday (8/9/00). Lord have Mercy, it hurts, but I'v had injections before (cortisone, etc) and it's the same degree of pain. This particular doctor was extremely professional and knowledgeable. After all is said and done, I will know if this worked in 1-2 weeks. Other intersting facts he pointed out were:
He has been doing this since the mid 70's and had limited results with 4% Alcohol. He now uses 10% Alcohol, which he said is his primary treatment for Neuromas. He corrected the previous statistic of my saying he's done this procedure apprx 500 times. Never has he had complications, and the majority of times he had success. There were some individuals who did not have results, but never worse off. He only Heard of a complication from another Dr who said that patient had some skin ulcers at the point of injection, but other than that one case, Nothing bad. Stand by for fllw up in 1-2 weeks to see if this works. PS: I'm paying for this out of my pocket, since insurance companies don't think it's a "viable treatment" . We shall see,
Bye for now
