: Hi! For the past 3 weeks I have had pain in my heel and ankles (both feet). I have been browsing this website and it seems I have the symptoms of a heel spur. I have not seen a doctor yet, but plan on doing so fast. Would it be better to see my own doctor, or a podiatrist, orthopedic doctor? What is the main cause of heel spurs? I work on my feet 6-8 hours a day, and admit that my shoes are wearing out. I plan on going on a trip to Mexico in February 2001,so I would like to get help soon! Is surgery the best method? I guess it depends on the individual, but just wondering if it takes many months to heal after surgery. Any help will be appreciated!! Thanks!
Surgery for heel spurs/plantar fasciitis is a last resort. Shoes wearing out can trigger the symtoms
A podiatrist sees this problem more than any other specialty.
