I have two teenage sons, 15 and 17 yrs of age. I am a little worried
about the way my oldest walks.
I don't know if it is the correct term, but it is what I would describe
as toe walking or walking tip toe. His step is "bouncy"...rarely does
his heel touch the ground. Usually it is some 3-4" off the ground.
Should this be cause for concern? I've noticed that my 15 yrd old is
beggining to walk with his heel off the ground, too...though not as high
as my oldest. While at the mall last weekend I noticed other teenage
boys walking with a similar "bouncy" step, but none as pronounced as my
In my research on the web, I discovered that toe walking is the result
of tight heel cords. Correction seems to be with braces or serial
casting. Do you think either of these would help my son? Would it help
preventing this in my younger son?
Neither of my sons have any medical problems besides this.
I'd appreciate any help or information you can give me! I'd really like
to get this taken care of before my son goes off to college next
year...if it is a problem.
