I had one of my Toenails removed on Wednesday. How long will the pain last? I had to change dressing yesterday for the first time. That pretty did me in. The bandage was stuck and had to be soaked for 2 hours. I had to take 2 codine tablets and boy that didn't eve take the edge off. My toe is still swollen and brusied. Is this normal? I was suppose to have both nails removed on November 3rd but I got badly infected and required emergencey surgery. Don't think I can do it a second time. The surgeon told me to start thinking of a time to have a toenails beds removed too. He said taking off the toenail wasn't going to help....just buy me time still the new nails grow in. I have thickened curved toenails. Does anyone know of anything that would help without having to have the beds removed. The surgeon told me he can offer me no other solution. There is no good time for me to have this done. I have a 4 year old with CF and can't afford to be laid up. Any ideas?
