: I, too have had foot cramps, which seem to happen most often when the weather is cold, but not always. It is mostly in my toes, which just want to spread and then curve downward. The only thing that seems to help in the middle of the night is to get out of bed and walk on them to stretch them out. One night it was so bad, that I got up and soaked them in the hottest water I could stand, which did really seem to help. Hope you get relief soon, as it is painful and disturbing to your sleep.
I see that you got the pottasium recommenfation. It is VERY good for cramps but has to be prescribed as a supplement as it has the potential of causing your heart to stop beating. So, if you don't want to go thru all that try eating a banana or a whole tomato every day or just before bed. The cramping can also be due to damage done to your back. If increasing your intake of potassium rich foods doesn't help see your Dr about possible back problems. Also, notice next time IF you have done anything else different just before the cramps happen at nite..like standing or walking longer than ususal.I have them all the time.
