bruised toenails are very common among dancers. we get them b/c we dance en pointe, and this puts a lot of pressure on our toenails. perhaps your shoe did irritate them in a similar fashion. However, there is little to nothing you can do about it. One idea that is supposed to be used by doctors to ease the pain is to take a candle and a metal pin, like a straight pin , and put the pin in the flame until it is red-hot. then press it to your toenail until you hear a tiny "pop". this helps lessen the pressure, so your toe doesn't hurt NEmore. but it leaves a small dent in your nail. HTH!!
