Hi, I thought I maybe had gout or arthritis too. My big toe hurt, but only sometimes especially after exercising. It eventually got to the point where my first step in the morning was painful. Now I am getting bunion surgery done. One doctor I saw said gout is very unlikely if you're still menstruating. I suggest you see a good podiatrist and make sure they take standing x-rays as well as doing a gait analysis.
