: I have severe osteoarthritis of the big toe joints by the balls of my feet. My podiatrist recommends fusion of the joint. I would like to hear from anyone who's had this done, as to how restricted I will be, does it relieve the pain, does it last forever? I am 60, very active (golf, tennis, ski, run), and want to remain active.....thanks, Mary

I had joint of big toe fused 4 yrs ago on my left foot.Movement of toe was cut back a little, but no big deal really. Going in Dec. 29 to have joint on other big toe done. Pain was so bad I asked Doc to cut my toe off. (Seriously)
I wouldn't even think about doing right foot if it hadn't helped my left foot so much. I can do all the same things I did before.
