Reply:I have also had a car crash resulting in my ankle and heel being crushed. I just started looking into the ankle replacements vs fusion procedures. They want to fuse mine in three places, but I am seriously looking into the Buechel-Pappas replacement instead. I want to walk "normally" with no pain again. Not sure if they can replace mine due to the seriousness of my injury. I hope you get the info and help you need as well. I just read up on the STAR replacement procedure. The other one is the Agility Total Ankle System. Not sure which would be best.
: I was in an accident on3/13/00 I had surgery on my left knee cap as it was fractured, also on my
: : left ankle which was crushed. The ankle was fused so I have no movement there. My question is will I ever be able to walk in a notmal fashion? Is there any way to get rid of the swelling?
: : I am wearing elastic stocking, and walking with a rocker sole shoe, but I can't see that either one
: : is helping. I understand that just because this guy couldn't wait a few seconds before he turned in front of me, that my life will never be as it was.
: : I need to hear from others who have been thru this, and any advice would be greatly appreicated.

: Have you ever checked into ankle replacement? I'm still looking into it, but only one I found that seems to be the best is called Buechel-Pappas. Can't give you any other info. I need to decide soon too.
