The nails on my "little" and "big" toes on each feet (4 total) have always grown "up" a little. My Dad and Grandma have the same type of nail. It has never caused a problem for them, though. Over the past couple of years, the condition has worsened on my little toes. My left little toe has now gone through a stage where it grew straight up, and is now beginning to curve toward me. The nail bed is buried. It's difficult to describe, and *very* strange. No one I've talked to has seen or heard of anything like it. Now the condition is "spreading" to my fourth toes (next to the smallest toes). They are starting to stick up as well. I'm starting to worry that it will get so bad that they will curl completely and start growing into my toe, behind the nail bed. If anyone has any idea what's causing this condition, and/or if it has a name, PLEASE tell me!
