In Reply to: "NEW BALANCE" arch problems posted by me on February 10, 2000 at 10:08:55:

: I bought a pair of New balance walking sneakers and everything was fine until I started wearing my shoes a bit more so now when I do put my sneakers on and walk it hurts my arch as well as my ankle. I have been told I need orthotics, but they are very expensive and for now I though these sneakers would be good because they apparently are good for foot problems and anyways maybe I just need to get use to them, please any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would imagine that any shoe that hurts your feet aren't good for your feet. Orthotics may be expensive but they can be well worth the investment. If for example you over pronate (your ankles turn in), this can lead to patello-femoral syndrome, morton's neuroma, bunions and hammertoes. True, New Balance is a good shoe brand. However, maybe this particular shoe is not for you. I would certainly reccomend the orthotics. You can wear them in just about every shoe, they last a lot longer than a pair of walking shoes, and they can help prevent the above mentioned problems.
