Hi Martha, that's a very interesting question, I'm 27 and have pretty severe bunions especially for my age. Mine were hereditary as they started forming i my early teens. I've not suffered from any kind of weakened muscles or bones so maybe it could be a couple of different reasons. I thinnk that mainly they are just different in everyone. My grandmotheres are worse than my mother's and mine are worse than my mother's also. Deena
