: : I GET DRY CRACKED HEELS EVERY WINTER. I HAVE TRIED PUMMICE STONES AND LOTION, BUT THEY STILL CRACK. IT IS VERY PAINFUL. ANY IDEAS.............
: Try Corona ointment for livestock, it's an antiseptec oinment and rich in lanolin. Hope it works.
: Do not have hot baths - no detergent - it dries out the skin even more
: Get rid of as much of the dry skin as possible without overdoing it
(pummicing or "cheese" graters)
: Use antifungal ointment for at least 2 weeks as dry athletes foot in this area can exacerbate
the condition, and is not clearly identifiable as the moist between-the-toes type.
: Do not wear heel-less sandals that slap back on to your feet - it rally opens up the cracks
: Lose weight - it can help a lot: and wear shoes with shock-absorbing soles.
: If you can get hold of a steroid cream, use sparingly on the bad cracks for no more than
about a week at a time..
: Try butterfly taping bad cracks together to speed healing
: Persist on all strategies at the same time. when things are better, keep monitoring
the state of your heels, and persist with the emollient creams and abrasion. If necessary,
reinitiate the more intensive strategies.
Good luck!
