Hi folks,
I had Bunion Surgery on 5/5/00. I heard everthing going on during surgery and Besides slight bleeding I basically came away feeling positive. I had two pins inserted through the big toe and could actually see one. My surgical staff was wonderful. I was hungry afterwards and was not nauseous at all. Oh yeah I was given crutches also With the help of tylenol 3 I had relatively little pain. Bedrest with my foot propped for a week alleviated some swelling and bleeding. The soft cast (because of bleeding) was removed after a week 5/13/00. I could now hobble on my post-surgical foot. The pins through my big toe came out 5/18/00 (believe me I felt hardly any pain it was done so quickly that all I felt was a hot flash due to the shock of something being yanked out of my body). I begin physical therapy on 5/22/00, whirlpool, electrical stimulation for range of motion and swelling and the doctor said within a few weeks I should be up and about in my sneakers. Oh the surgical stitches also come out. of course he said complete normal healing takes up to a year. Butlike the doctor said i am young and healthy I should not have any major healing problems I plan to go back to work mid-june. Get the surgery if you need it..Bunions only get worse especially if you feet are flat like mine.
