I have a heel spur and after I ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler....I broke down. I got the shot in the heel yesterday.....it sucked. I have heard that lithotripsy has been approved for breaking them up. I know that I have to run a marathon in about 6 months. What would you suggest?
: I had plantar facia "release" surgery 15 days ago.My orthopedic surgeon tells me that what he actually did was to remove a 5 by 50 mm area underneath my painful heel spur.I assume this was to create clearance or space between the spur and the area that has been increasingly inflamed over the last 7 years.
: I had very intermittent pains, particularly the 1st 4 years, that only seemed to bother me in the morning.Approximately 2 years ago the pain began to affect me longer into the day.I saw a reputable surgeon
: and on my 1st visit he informed me of only 2 choices:surgery or cotisone shots.I took 1 horrific cortisone shot.I went home and,1 week later, continued
: to struggle with the pain.1 year ago I saw another doctor in the same practice.I told him I wanted to avoid surgery as long as there were options.I tried phys therapy, orthodic shoe inserts and a cast.None helped.Note I'm a 40 year old healthy male.
: My question:How long does the post-op pain last? Was in a cast-now in splint. It is entirely different pain but is constant.Tired of whining about it.
