I am 19 years of age and I had Bunion surgery on the 20/6/00. Which is almost 3 weeks ago. I'm not too sure about your condition because of the arthritis and bone separation, but I personally can say that I am quite happy with the results already. I had the operation done by an orthopedic surgeon. I went and had my first post op checkup last Saturday where my bandages where taken off for the first time and my feet look great. I was in a bit of pain for about the first 4 or 5 days, but it was easily helped by using cold ice packs to help the swelling go down and keeping my feet up also helped. I can now walk, altough fairly slowly, with very minimal pain I'm wearing the post op shoes too. In my case I also has 2 hammertoes repaired as well, so i have pins in my 2 second toes. I am sure if I did not have this done as well I would be walking fine. I am due to have the stitches and pins removed on the 29th of this month. Which will make the recovery period 6 weeks in total. If I just had the bunions done it would have only been 4 weeks. I cannot say wether I am 100% happy with the way the surgery has gone yet because I'm still in recovery but I am happy with things so far. I hope this has helped you. PLease feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
