I have been to see my Podiatrist and he actually has tried talking me out of the surgury. He told me that 95% of people get better with cortisone shots, arch inserts and a night splint. So I have tried the later two for one week. It has not helped. Went back today and he convinced me to try the cortisone. I also scheduled my surgury for this Friday. We have decided that if the cortisone relieves my pain the rest of the week I will potpone my surgury and try the cortisone but if not I'm going through with the surgury. They also do ultrasound on my foot that makes it feel good for a couple of hours. I really like this Podiatrist he has tried to give me the good and the bad with surgury and left the decision to me. Most doctors just want to cut you up and get the buck. He has not mentioned a cast but has mentioned that I will be on crutches for 6 to 8 weeks. They are supposed to go in and remove two very large heel spurs and clip a muscle I believe this would be the plantar fascia. They also mentioned breaking my foot and realigning some bones that are dropping. I chose not to have this. Will let you know how surgury goes.
