Don't worry about it...what you were feeling was your aortic (spelled wrong probably) pulse...the reasons for the rate being different probably has something to do with the thickness of the viens and arteries..the aoreta is much thicker than the pulse you take on your arm. Your completly normal. If you want to know more about it just try doing a search for aortic pulse or abdominal aorta.
