What can cause swelling in the ankle and lower leg. This has bee happening periodically for 4 months. The foot is one that was fractured badly about ten years ago . The ankle and lower leg dent when pressed. There is no pain or heaviness, just puffiness. It is not severe swelling and is probably not noticeable to anyone but me but I know it is there. This tends to come and go and is worse if I have been wearing socks that are snug around my ankles. It is also worse if I have been sitting in a car for any lenghth of time.
