: : I have a horrible pain right under my left rib cage. It had a sudden onset about three days ago and will not let up. It feels just like a side-ache one might get after a hard run. It is especially painful when I try to take a deep breathe or cough. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
: Peggy, does the pain reach to the back, have you/are you a heavy drinker?
: I 've had the kind of pain since the mid '70s. I've had x-rays, ultra sound done on the
: gallbladder and kidney areas and found nothing. Just recently I had another ultra sound
: done this time they checked the liver. Well anyway they found something on the liver.
: Friday is my appt. with Doc. So maybe tell your Doc to have liver checked. And I wish
: you the best. Peggy A
DEAR PEGGY A: No, I'm not and never have been a heavy drinker. I just had my gallbladder removed last month and when they did the ultra sound for that, they also checked the liver and pancreas and said they looked good. The pain I am having is on the front left side, right underneath where the rib starts curving downwards. It does not generate towards the back.
