My husband is also sick with many of the symptoms. He does not have seizures but has passed out a few times yet he says it's not for very long. Sometimes he forgets where he's going when driving which worries me. I have Epilepsy plus some of the same symptoms he has. I do have more seizures now than I use to so I know this is contagious. We have to remember that we are our own support group and we can understand when no-one else tries to. We aren't crazy and this illness is real. Many marriages have broken up because of the Gulf War but we need to remember that the one's we love that served over there cannot help what's happened to them. I feel that it will slowly get worse but I pray now for strength for what's in my home and yours. We all have a long hard road ahead of us whether we like it or not.
: : Hi Tammy,
: : My husband has alot of the same symptoms. One of the things you might want to talk to your neurologist about is pseudo tumor cerebri. This
: : condition is caused by an increased pressure in the brain. My husband was diagnosed with this after docyors at a military hosp. told him his neuro exam was normal. He compained of headaches,
: : visual problems, headaches and tingling in the left side of his face, hand and arm. The neuro-opthomologist saw some swelling of the optic nerve(in both eyes) and did a spinal tap. The tap showed elevated pressure in his head. Further tests showed he had peripheral vision losses and an enlarged central blind spot. He has been on meds for almost 4 years now and the problem is intermittantly under control.
: : He has also had a pet scan which shows abnormalities in the temporal lobe. The doctors are not sure what the significance of this is.
: : We had a spect scan done last week and are waiting for the results.
: : Dr. Haley at UT Southwest has been doing
: : research on delayed organophospate neurotoxicity. You can research that more at
: : www.swmed.edu/home_pages/epidemi/gws
: : Hope that helps.
