: Ive been sick for 10 years and i'm trying to get to the bottom of this. Im tired, joint aches, headaches, just plain sick all over. im filling a claim with the VA. IM TOAST
: Dear Toast; Hey buddy I feel your pain and I've been sick for the past 9 years and down the old "file the claim" road for the past 5 years. The VA doesn't care about making you better, they don't care about finding out what's wrong with you. All they care about is making their numbers look good while they find new and creative ways to deny your claim. A bit of advice for what it's worth, make sure that all of your "T"s are crossed and the "I"s are dotted. Make sure that you CLEARLY state what your symptoms are AND support each one with enough documentation to thoroughly prove your case. The VA doesn't believe their own Doctors, so it would be good to supply supporting documentation from your own private physician. Find a VERY GOOD Veterans Service Group (VFW, DAV, etc) to represent you. Everything you send should be sent registered mail w/ return reciept and for heavens sake never send the VA any original documentation. They are very fussy about your keeping the appointments that they make for you, if you miss them, they will use it as an excuse to deny your claim. They are fussy about your keeping the little timetables that they set for you to have things submitted so be sure that you make them because they will again use it against you come decision time.
Feel free to drop me an e-mail anytime I'm always happy to hear from folks in the same boat as me. Maybe we can swap headache stories... or take turns forgetting our names...
