: My friend's daughter was conceived right after he returned from Desert Storm. She has had developmental problems since birth-- physical as well as mental. She has recently been diagnosed with PDD (mild autism) and they say she has some form of a muscle disease "probably some form of muscular dystrophy." None of the doctors seem to know exactly what is wrong with her.
: Has anyone else's children encountered these illnesses or symptoms? Please let me know. I love this child very much and it is heartbreaking to see her and her family go through this.

Mel, my child was also born with muscle weakness, our doctors all thought it was a dystrophy also, now they have decided he has a myopathy, which is not life threatening unless he has surgery with gen anesthetics, (he has MH), his muscle biopsy is suggestive of central core disease, however he still does not have an official diagnosis. I understand them being frustrated, tell them to hang in there, I know it's hard when know one seems to know what to do for your child. Let me know if there are any updates on her muscle problem, jen
