I tried valerian but had to stop because it hurt too much. Apparently for some people it gives you a headache for like 2 weeks and after the 2 weeks it's supposed to make them all go away. I was in University at the time so I couldn't afford 2 weeks of pain. I tried top be a trooper and try it but after 4 days I had to stop. Of course this doesn't happen to everyone and I heave heard good things about it.
Also I have heard some people try Yam cream (have to use it properly for 3 months tho). It's just like a hand cream so it's not a vother to take.
