Hi!
I have had the Botox injections and it didn't work for me. I had a severe reaction from it. Instead of relaxing my muscles I had severe rigidity and muscle spasms and a tremendous increase in pain. It has taken me 20+ Nerve Blocks and Trigger Point Injections to break the cycle of spasms and pain over a course of about 5 weeks. I still am suffering from the side effects.
BUT....many people have gotten relief from the Botox!! I would do an intensive research on botox and even read articles on Botox and wrinkles. I did and that is why I decided to go ahead and try it. I just was one of the rare ones who had a reaction.
If you have had trigger point injections or nerve blocks you know those can be painful and sore for a day or so afterwards. The Botox will be the same only somewhat worse. But pain meds will help.
It took me 6 months of dickering with my insurance company to get authorization for the treatment, and my total bill for the day was $1800.00 @ $600.00 per vial of Botox. He used 2 full vials. It is still in the experimental stages, that is why insurance companies don't like to approve it. But I have not had much success with any other treatments so far, as the majority of my headaches are the chronic daily ones caused by massive muscle spasms in my neck and shoulders from whiplash not being treated promptly.
