Hmm. Well, I got my hearing tested and I am indeed experiencing hearing loss. At this point it is pretty minor, though. I asked my doctor why it happens and she said that I might have an inborn sensitivity so my ears can be damaged more easily by environmental factors like loud music (which I admit I like to play) or noise pollution like traffic, airplanes and stuff. So she suggest that I play my music more softly, wear ear-plugs to concerts, and maybe even drive my car with my windows up to minimize the noise of the road.

: There seems to be a genetic component to hearing loss, and it seems like that might be fairly likely in your case, since a lot of your family has experienced it. Have you had your hearing checked lately by your doctor? You might want to consider that. I'm sure she can provide you with all the information you need about this subject.

: If you would like to learn more about hearing loss, you can check out www.healthatoz.com, www.webmd.com, www.drkoop.com and for info about genetics visist www.DNA.com, they have a section on hearing loss also.

: Hope this helps!!!

: : All of my older relatives have hearing loss. Is it absolutely certain that I will also lose my hearing? I'm 25 and already seem to have trouble hearing people in large crowds.
