: I was hearing a snapping noise in my ear for about 3 weeks until the dr gave me medicated ear drops, also have been on nasal sprays/OTC decongestants. Although the noise stopped, a few days after completing the eardrop medicine, my ear felt blocked--I've been that way for about a week so I went to the dr today and she told me I have an ear infection and prescribed oral antibiotics and a prescription decongestants. I've never had an ear infection so would like to know if the antibiotic is really going to do the trick, how long will it be for me to notice any difference? I spend the day working in a building where the air pressure is awful and I feel even more blocked up, will this affect how the medicine works? Thanks. Stay on the abx for the whole time..like a week...dont miss any....use your sray and oral decongestant (pseudophed) but be careful as that(pseudophed) can keep you awake and some folks get nervous on it..follow directions. also use tylenol or aleive for the pain.....if the pain gets worse after a week go back to the doctor....remember it always gets worse at night so prepare for that part of it...bfn D
