: : ^^^^ Dear Yew, I was interested to read all 3 messages of yours. I have a few comments & queries: I'm interested to hear more about this hearing loss- were both ears affected at the same time? Were you ill before that? What does the doctor think was the cause? About an implant: I believe they're successful on suitable patients, but expensive. About hearing aids: it's not always that one needs a more powerful aid, sometimes the speech discrimination isn't clear, so extra volume may not help. Try a digital aid on approval- don't buy it before trying it out. About musicians: read Vikram Seth's book, "An Equal Music", about a musician going deaf. Please write to me here or e-mail 160luci@atlas.wits.ac.za Go well! Lucille^^
