I have had "swimmer's ear". it usually is very painful. it is basically an infection of the ear. if you swim in a pool, cholorine does not always kill all bacteria. when swim water is left in your ear, the bacteria basically has a nice warm fertile ground to multiply.

treatment is antibiotics. prevention is a bottle of "swimmer's ear" drops. you can buy them in almost any drug store. after swimming, simply put a few drops in your ear. it is partly made up of alchol, so it essentially drys your ears out. this prevents this condtion very nicely and does not hurt your ears either.

good luck,
Jeff

: Hi Friends, I keep hearing about swimmers ear, what is it? I recently came back from my holiday after swimming every day, sometimes in the sea and also in a pool. I now have this sensation of a blocked ear and also a clear fluid dripping out, its very irritating as it itchies too. what can it be? Is this swimmers ear, and how do you get rid of it? Thanks for any help or suggestions. The Doodster.
