My 74 year old father has recently experienced a sudden hearing loss. He has tried numerous hearing aids and none of them seem to work. He recently saw another specialist who determined that the loss is due to his auto immune system destroying the nerves in his ears. He was put on steroids which resulted in a slight improvement, but they won't let him stay on the steriods due to the side effects. Does anyone have any information on a similar diagnosis?
