: My daughter had pnuemonia very bad, and at the same time had severe heart pain. They did an EKG at the emergency room and I have posted the results of the test, at the end of this message. She wants to know, what these numbers mean, since she cannot see a heart doctor until next week and is still having heart pain. Her PCP said what had happened was probably this: Somehow the pneumonia had caused irreversable heart damage, that would eventually turn to scar tissue. But, in the meantime, she would still experience angina like heart pain. Does anyone out there know what the test results below mean? Thank You!!

: Rate - 122 Sinus Tachycardia
: PR 115 High QRS Voltage
: QRSD 85 Q's in II, III, aVF
: QT 315 Nonspecific Inferior ST-T abnormalities
: QTc 449

: Axis
: P 75
: QRS 70
: T -6

: Abnormal EKG/Preliminary-MD Must Review

: Age 36, Female

All I can tell you is that sinus tachycardia is when your pulse increases when you inhale & decreases when you exhale. I have SVT & sinus tachycardia was diagnosed at age 36, like your daughter, & underwent catheter ablation in Nov.

I take 5 mg of a beta blocker to combat my fast pulse, though, so that's under control. Please e-mail me if you have more questons. Take care,

Karen Russo
