: : I am due to have oblatiion in about 3 weeks do to heart rate as high as 215. I would like to hear from people who have had it done. How long in hospital. Risks. How painful or uncomfortable and what kind of recovery time etc.

: Hi,
: I had a SA node modification ablation done. It didn't work for me and made me worse. During the procedure I went into A-fib and had to be cardioverted...so my experience was not that pleasant. I just turned 21 and am still going to have to go through other cardio treatments as medications do not work well for me. Wish you the best of luck..if you want you can e-mail me at Ode2aCardiacNode@aol.com

I had the ablatoin done in Nov & still take 5 mg of Nadolol every morning to keep my pulse down to around 115. I do feel much better than befre - I was on Tambocor & Nadolol, now I probably don't even need Nadolol but take ti anyway to functoin. Anyway, I was in the hosp 3 days, since you havea to be off all meds 2 days prior to the ablatoin. No pain at all afte rthe procedure, although I did get sick to my stomach from the anesthesia but they gave me Phenergan & after tha t I slept most of the time. You have to lie pretty much flat for a few hrs after though, & that can be uncomfortable, but since I slept from the Phenergan, it didn't bother me!

Good luck & I do hope you have it done - it worked for me : )
